The debate regarding Branding has been going on for years. Marketers trying hard to create a perception in the consumer's mind. Consumers have a number of enduring perceptions, or image that are relevant to their behavior. They attempt to preserve or enhance their self-images by buying products and using services that they believe are congruent with their self-image. The essence of successful marketing is the image that a product has in the mind of the consumer. It is also known as positioning.

The key objective of a positioning strategy is to get the consumer to discriminate among similar stimuli by establishing a unique image for a brand in the consumer's mind. When a marketer targets consumer with a strong communication brands that stress the unique ways in which the product will satisfy the consumer's need, it wants the consumer to differentiate its product from among competitive products on the shelf. Unlike the imitator who hopes consumers will generalize their perceptions and attribute special characteristics of the market leaders product to its own products, market Leaders want the consumer to discriminate among similar stimuli.

What does a "Brand Imitation" mean?

A Brand Imitation is a product that borrows or copies some special attributes of a famous or leading brand, such as a name, shape or color. These are those that are not identical but are similar to substance, nature, name, form, meaning or intent to an acknowledged and widely known product or service.

Unfortunately, some companies create products imitating famous brands with their name and look. Imitation of companies, organizations, and banks is also allowed. Entries showing altered brand names, logos have to be shown on/with the product, service, company they are associated with. Some of them are listed below.
